Friday August 7th 1885 I went to town with May the first thing in the morning to finish her dress. I attended a number of errands and got home before eleven oclock. I fixed up things for Mother and May soon after dinner. Mother Stevens and Minnie McCallister were here for the day. I went to the depot with the folks and got me a new dress on the way home. I had a box of nuts and candy from Will Work. Mr. Free was here for supper and to stay all night. I was very very tired. Saturday August 8th 1885 I was at home all day. I made a couple of pair pillow cases that I am going to send Vene for a present. Hatt took Edith over town in the afternoon to see the Grant funeral procession. weather very warm. Sunday August 9th 1885 I was working about the house part of the forenoon and wrote a letter to Florence Rice. I was over to Folsoms and McEverns in the afternoon and wrote to mother. John and Hatt went to town after supper and I put the children to bed. Monday August 10th 1885 Eva washed their things this morning. I did a little washing first thing after dinner and ironed them at supper time. Hatt was in town all the afternoon. Mr Free staid here all night. I wrote to Vene in the evening weather cool and pleasant. I cut my dress this afternoon and sewed some on it.
