Tuesday November 17th 1885 I was busy about the house all the forenoon. Ott told us at noon that Father was in trouble with the courts at Clarinda which gives was a great deal of trouble. I had a letter from Will and one from Will Work. he is sick and cannot come to Iowa City now. I was at the dentists all the afternoon. worked on my lambrequin all the evening. Wednesday November 18th 1885 I was at home all day working on my lambrequin. Mother was in town all the afternoon. The weather is more unpleasant today. There is no word from Father to relieve our anxiety. Charlie telegraphs he has gone to Clarinda. Thursday November 19th 1885 I did a little washing this morning. May went to town and brought Edith home with her. I worked on my lambrequin some and took Edith home just before night. I went into Moores and picked out curtains for the parlor. Lee stopped there for me and we came home together. wrote to Will tonight. Friday November 20th 1885 I was at home all day. finished my lambrequin by late bed time. Word from Father and Charlie. he has not been in jail at all and the reports telegraphed to the papers are all false and his arrest was a matter of spite. Hatt is over all the afternoon. It was a year today since Charlie and Ida was married.
