Sunday May 8th 1886 We were late getting up this morning and I had only just got the work done up when John & Carney came for a call. As soon as they were gone Will and I went to the cemetery and came home by dinner time. There was a terrible rain in the afternoon. Ott Will and I were all the afternoon getting our cards ready to send. John & Hatt were over all the morning for a visit. And we were talking constantly about the wedding Wednesday [the following text is written vertically in the right marin of the above entry] Hattie is 29 years old today. Monday May 10th 1886 Hatt came over this morning and we began on the cake baking we finished all and done the frosting before supper time. Ida Byington came this forenoon. We spent the evening visiting amoung ourselves I was very tried indeed. Tuesday May 11th 1886 I was busy fixing some of my things in the forenoon. Ida Bell came so I did not need to work so hard today. Will came from town about ten oclock and we had an hour visit and in the afternoon he repaired my trunk and I helped wash the dishes to be used tomorrow for the dinner. We are tired when supper time came Ott & Lee brought over their present this evening it was an elegant silver service of four pieces with ice pitcher. John & Hatt got me a set of amber jewelry with a comb to match. Wednesday May 12th 1886 It was a warm morning and threatened rain. I was up early and cleaned up the lower story of the house. Charlie, Miss Lewis, Aunt Betty and Birdie came from berlington at ten oclock. Charlie came right on over home but the rest stopped at Hatties for lunch and about noon they all come over together.
