nearly all came in time that we could be prompt with the ceremony. At a few moments past two Ida began to play the march and Will and I walked into the parlor, Mr. Brindell walking just ahead of us. The ceremony was soon performed and the friends crowded around us for congratulations which were loving and sincere. The dinner was elegant and the whole afternoon was a delight. My presents were costly, so much more so than I think I deserved. The afternoon was grand visit by the friends. The older part of the company went home before time for us to leave on the train but the young folks all came to the depot with us. We left on time and had a very comfortable night's travel. Thursday May 13th 1886 Arrived in Chicago at six oclock and at John Harts in time for a seven oclock breakfast. Will and I both slept some in the forenoon. Mary Bird spent a couple of hours with us in the forenoon and in the evening Mary Hart, Mahala [Cannatt?] with their husbands came to see us. I wrote a letter home. Friday May 14th 1886 The forenoon was spent visiting with Mrs Hart and after lunch at twelve Will and I went into the city. We looked about the "Fair" and went to the matinee at "Hooleys". That was splendid. It was six oclock when we got home and it was raining. Saturday May 15th 1886 It was a showery day. Will and I were at Johns till nearly four in the afternoon when we started to Mishawaka. The folks met us at the depot and we had a jolly evenings visit after we got there. They all appeared so glad to see us we will enjoy our stay here.
