Monday August 30th 1886 I hurried to get my work done this morning. Will and I were over town in the phaeton. The Denton family and Aunt Em were visiting here, with John & Hatt. we had a very pleasant day. I worked on the net what time I could. Tuesday August 31st 1886 We did the washing this morning. Ott went away for a long ride. Mother was in town after dinner and I worked on the net. Wedensday September 1st 1886 It was faithful rainy day. I worked steadily on the net. Mother could not go to the fair, it was cold enough to need fire. Ott started to Marshalltown this morning. Thursday September 2nd 1886 It had cleared this morning and about noon Mother May & Will went to the fair. I was at home alone all the afternoon working on the net. I ironed in the morning. Friday September 8th 1886 I was working about the house in the forenoon. After dinner Will and I rode to town but came right back for fear of rain. Ben Winter and wife with Hatt & Clara Ashley were here for supper. Ott got home this morning. Saturday September 4th 1886 I was busy about the work all the forenoon and worked on the nets while Mother went to town in the afternoon. Sunday September 5th 1886 I was about home all day till four oclock. Will and I drove up to the cemetery. I wrote to Ida and Maggie Duncan. We had no company today. I did not see the Whetstone family.
