35 Camp on Talla Hatchie River Miss August 16th.1864 Tuesday A very large mail Came to the Regiment to day. But there was none for me, and I begin to be astonished at it. all quiet along our Front the Rebels ocuping the same position 4 miles beyond Abbeville & 6 miles from our Camp. Political discusion is getting quite Common in Camp amongst the men Abraham Lincoln is getting unpopular with a great many, and I am amongst them as I think He is not the man for the Time on account of His weak inconsistent & vacilating policy
