46 Holly Springs Mississippi August 27th. 1864 Saturday Co. "C" is Detailed as Prison Guard in the City with the prisoners in Charge who were taken at the Tall Hatchie. our Head Quarters is on Court Square. I & Mr McElvain Mr Hutchins & Joe Baker are ocupying some law offices. where we sleep and Read [Tewer?] &c, &c, I & Mr McElvain are in the ex Mayors office Mr Gordrich, Mr Hutchins and Joe, in the County Clerks office. We have every Comfort & talk Politics with the officeles of Mississippi & peace probibilities with ourselves. The Citizens fear we will leave before all the Troops pass through.
