67 Brownsville Arkansas Sept 17th. 1864 Saturday Orders Came for us to move at 1 oclock P.M.. we were Ready at the Hour but as is usual with such matters we did not start untill 3 and then we marched of in the direction of Austin for 7 miles Crossing a prairie 4 miles wide. Byvoucked in the woods near a dry Run, where a few stagnent pools suplied us with water. This is a fine looking Country, with very fine Timber. But the flat surface of the Country shows a wet soil in spring & to hard in summer. Weather Cool & good marching
