Thursday May 1st 1884. We passed quite a comfortable night on the train really getting more sleep than the night before. We got a real good dinner at Cairo, Ill, and our afternoons ride to St Louis was through a lovely farming country It was raining part of the day. We got a good lunch at St Louis and took a sleeping car for Burlington. Friday May 2nd 1884. We arrived at Burlington at half past six and Charlie met us at the depot. We went to the Harris house for our breakfast. I was down town a little while after dinner. We spent the evening there and went to bed early. Weather rather pleasant. Saturday May 3rd 1884. Rob did not feel so well today he was lying down a great part of the time. I was down to the office and up to see Mifs Lewis in the morning. I had company at the house all the afternoon. Rob felt better in the evening and went with Charlie to stay all night up on the hill. letters from home today
