Monday July 21st 1884. We took an early start with lunch basket for Minnehaha folks, but missed the train so spent the day in the City it was very tiresome for Rob especially, letter from home. Tuesday July 22nd 1884. We devoted the day to resting from the fatigues of yesterday Rob slept and read. I worked on the shawl, wrote letters. Wednesday July 23rd 1884. I am thirty three years old today. Rob rested in the hammock some and took a ride on the lake I worked on the shawl, weather warm. Thursday July 24th 1884. Warm day again. We stayed about the hotel there was large excursions out in the lake of the G.A.R. people. We heard from John they start tonight. A heavy storm here. Friday July 25th 1884.
