class four of the ten speakers did not appear and two of the speakers were nearly hissed from the stage. They would not give them their diplomas till in the afternoon. Mary and I went to the memorial services for Slegle in the afternoon and to the Alumni and reception in the evening. It was a delightful night and I felt I had done going enough for one day when I got home, had a letter from Charles. Wednesday June 20th 1883 I did not go to town at all today I was so tired and had work to do at home Charles came at eight oclock. Most of the folks took dinner at the banquet I came up a heavy rain just before night but we all went down to Jim Mc- to the party but Charlie and Mary. It cleared of in the night. We had a splendid time at the party. Owens went home tonight, George Day in the afternoon.
