Friday July 21st 1882. We arrived home at eight oclock after a hard nights travel to find baby still alive though very sick indeed I came on home and rested awhile before noon and spent the afternoon at Hatts. Mother stayed there all night. I came home and went to bed as I was nearly dead for sleep. Weather cool and pleasant. Saturday July 22nd 1882. Mother came home this morning thinking the baby was a little better. I went right over but found her worse She was very sick all day The doctor was there every three hours. Mother came over before supper time to stay all night and I came home and wrote to some of the friends about her condition. Father went over after supper and still she was no better. Doctor will stay there all night. We are nearly distracted with grief and anxiety. Charlie did not come home tonight.
