Tuesday August 1st 1882. Mother and Lou went down to Halsons this forenoon. I worked hard till dinner time cleaning up the house and doing some baking I put in the greater part of the afternoon fixing up Lee's things for him to go down to Chicago tonight. The folks did not come from Halsons till after supper. Wednesday August 2nd 1882. Mother and I went over to Hatts with Lou this forenoon and went to the depot with her to take the two oclock train for the north. We then came up town and Mother got her a new hat and we bought a carpet for the little room. I got gingham for May an apron and worked on that some after I came home. Otto was up to Cedar Rapids to a democratic convention, and Rob got back from Indianapolis where he went night before last. Mother went over to Hatts to stay all night and help take care of baby as John did not get to sleep much last night.
