Bladder - Set them in a pan of Cold Water and let them boil an hour. they must stewed in the Water till cold - then set them in a dry place without opening them. - Mr Porters Receipt for - Whiting the Outside of Houses. The following Composition for Colouring Bricks must be laid on Cold with a Plaisterers broad Brush as thick as it will lie on once done - frequently stirring the mixture in the Pail that the Sand may not subside. It shoud be done in dry warm weather. Sand 20 Lb. 0 oz. Lime 10 -- 0 English yellow Ocre 1 -- 0 Bone Black - - 0 - - 6 The Lime must be fresh from the Kiln, & the Sand shoud be sharp, well wash'd and made quite hot - and them mix'd into Mortar - then add the Colour - and put as much Lime Water as is necessary to
