Camphor Julep Mrs Thing
Slice one ounce of Campher very thin and pull it into the smallest bits possible - dissolve it in half a tea cup full of brandy, cover it up for twelve hours very close - then pour upon it one quart of boiling water wine measure - and again cover it up for twelve hours more - with a plate - with a weight upon it and a cloth over that - to prevent the strength of the camphor evaporating - Strain it through a sheet of muslin and bottle it. If liked a few drops of spirit of Lavender may be added for old people a small wine glass of this to be take occasionally - as found to apice - It shoud be kept well corked and in a cool and dry place - as it sometimes goes sour.
