Thursday October 6th 1881. Vene went down town this morning and I worked on my tidy while she was gone. Soon after she came back we walked up to the old place and spent a really delightful day. everything seems natural enough to me up there and the people living there as pleasant as I ever met. Mrs Shurts and Clara came down home with us and we all went to the Methodist church to attend a wedding. We met with other friends there and had a pleasant evening. We talked awhile after coming home and all retired. I had a letter from Bird tonight. Friday October 7th 1881 I wrote to Bird and Mother this morning and took them down to mail them. I went down and telegraphed to Charlie that I would not come till Monday. I worked on my tidy awhile, but felt so badly that I laid down just before noon. In the afternoon
