70. Cancer. A copy of a Letter from The Rev.d Dr Baheman to the Rev.d W Reynolds describing some extraordinary cures performed by the use of cleverd otherwise goode graddor hagliss. Sir: An old woman in my parish who had what was called a bleeding cancer, continuing to eat away the flesh for Several years, had a relation at Abingdon to whom the event for the help of a Surgeon, who called on her, frequently without any good effects, and at last was sent home with the comfortable assurance that she would be released from her sufferings in a fortnight or less. One her return to my parish I was sent for to pray for her; never did I meet such an object in the whole course of my life, nothing more horrible than her shrieks. Just at that time I was desired by Dr Dettonius, Professor of Botany to acquaint myself with some botanic expressions: he refer'd me to some book in our library in Magdalen College, and after I had finished my compliments, Iamerded myself with reading the virtues of several plants that I was acquainted with; and particularly cli
