2 blade of mace & 2 ozs whole sugar dandy; put it into a baking pot & cover it over with a water paste; then put it into an over & let it stand all night then strain it & skim off the fat very clear. - It may be take hot for cold for dinner or supper. - Make it often fresh. 98 garlic syrup for a cough Take 3 large or 4 small roots of garlic sliced then 4 oz honey 4 oz vinegar. These ingredients to be put in a pint my the my to be placed in a basin of boiling water & covered over till cold Strain the garlic & add an equal quantity of rum to the syrup & bottle it for use. Take 2 tea spoonsful of the syrup in 2 spoonsful of water the first thing in the morning & the last at night. Take care to put the water first in the glass out of which it is taken. - This medicine has never been known to fail in curing common & asthmatic Coughs & invariably relieves consumption coughs.
