48 [illegible] chicken [illegible] Get 2 (symbol for lb?) of (head/veal?) and the same of the ribs [illegible] [illegible] , cut them into pieces as for soup chopping the bones well, put [ number of illegible words] of salt and three quarts of cold water into a saucepan and boil it about 4 hours Skim any particles of fat off and then strain it (clean?clear) through a [illegible] seine into another saucepan to which add a tender chicken cut into the smallest joints and well (brushed?) with three large table spoonful of [ number of illegible words] boil til the food is tender which will be in twenty minutes and it is ready Belles weekly newspaper [ illegible ] 5 1828 To remove mildew, [ illegible ] and water in the proportions of two thirds of [ illegible ] to one of water well rubbed in this is the most efficasious means of removing Mildew from black silk family reader May/77
