Friday January 30th 1880 It was so slippery this morning that no one felt safe to start out. I stayed right in doors all day. helped with the work and worked on pillow cases. Saturday January 31st 1880 I helped do the work today and sewed a little in the afternoon and evening. We had a joyful surprise this noon Cousin Ira came unexpectedly. We were so glad to see him. Sunday February 1st 1880 It was a splendid day. Mother went to church in the forenoon and I got the dinner. In the afternoon she went down to see how Aunty was. I went to church with Ira in the evening and after we came home sat up in my room and talked till real late and I read over my old diary. John and Hatt went to church with us tonight.
