Tuesday June 1st 1880 I helped get the dinner. Mrs Middleton and Emma were here visiting. I dressed before dinner and as soon as I had eaten my dinner Lee took me over to the train to go to Burlington. I had a very pleasant ride down and surprised every body. Charlie and I had quite a discourse in the evening. Nine years ago today I went to the Riverside picnic. Wednesday June 2nd 1880 I rested all the forenoon and Bird and I went calling on South hill in the afternoon and Mrs Hodgeman was kind enough to take us in her buggy. We spent a delightful afternoon and got back to the store in time to go up to supper with Charlie. I went down to the store again in the evening and stayed till time for him to come up and we visited with Bird till later. Weather cool and pleasant.
