Saturday June 12th 1880 Ott and Hatt went up to Pauls to a picnic. Mother was gone to town awhile in the forenoon. I did the work. In the afternoon we stayed right at home. I cut a lot of carpet rags. After supper Mother and Father went out to Hartsocks and I did up the work. Mr Shinn was over to take the plan for the house. Grace Carroll died at noon today. Sunday June 13th 1880 Mother and Rob went to the valley to attend the funeral of Daniel Hart. I went to church and Hatt had the dinner nearly ready when I came home. She and John went to the valley in the afternoon. I slept most of the afternoon. Winnie, Ira and Jeffie were here for supper. We hear this evening that Mr Sheets oldest son was drowned this afternoon and the body recovered. Grace will be buried tomorrow afternoon so it was announced at church this morning. Weather still very warm.
