Wednesday August 25th 1880 It rained all day long and we girls sewed the new rag carpets We heard from the boys and they are having a hard time of it I wrote them a long letter in the evening. Thursday August 26th 1880 It was still raining this morning but did not continue long I put in the day till four oclock doing odd jobs of sewing and then did the washing. Mother was over town in the forenoon Weather very warm I had a letter from Charlie Russell. Friday August 27th 1880 I went over town as soon as I could after breakfast to see Miss Patterson about my music lesson which I took this morning as I did not go yesterday. Mother came over and we got a new carpet for Mothers room and selected paper. It was nearly noon when we got home. We sewed some on the carpet and I ironed. Miss Brown and Mrs Paul were here a little while, practiced an hour
