Monday December 27th 1880 It was a very cold day I helped a little with the work and knit a mitten for John. Hattie is better today than yesterday though she is still very sick. Tuesday December 28th 1880 I did today just what I did yesterday Hattie keeps about the same the weather is colder than ever I finished Johns mittens and pressed them out so he may wear them tomorrow. Wednesday December 29th 1880 A very cold day. The plants froze last night. I was in Hatties room a good part of the day she is a little better. Thursday December 30th 1880 I knit Robs other mitten today it is hardly as cold as yesterday I had a letter from Esther Thurber and answered it in the evening asking her to come and stay the rest of the winter with us.
