A Compound of Amber Dissolved. take of Amber greece one dram of [civis?] half a dram oyle of bean 1 ounce of musk half a dram mix them together in a silver morter it being heat hott uppon the fire then put it in all but ye musk put that in when it is almost cold and so incorporat them well together and put them upp in a glass for use when you would make use of it warme it att the fire and shake it together and put in 3 or 4 drops according to the quantities off sweet meat [dryes?] or boyld meats put it in after you take it from the fire make cleane the morter with salt or suger wch will serve to season any meat and make it seeme to be drest with amber. To make a perfume to burn in a house. Take 2 ounces and a halfe of cinamin and lay it all night in rose water then beat it fine and take half a pound of damask roses and the whites of the leaves cut of beat them fine in a stone morter then put in your beatne ceniamin and beat them well together till they come to a paste then take it out and mix wth it half a quarter of an ounce of fine musk beaten and as much of [?] and mould an ounce and a half of Barbery suger searsed finely into it then make them in little cakes and lay a roses leafe on either side of them dry them abroad somtimes turning them. To make a spanish pomander. Take a quarter of a pound of the flower of violets the whites beinge cut off 2 ounces of the best [bennmim?] and a quarter of a pound walflowers and as mush damask roses the whites being cut of and as much musk roses when they are all throughly dry beat and searce them through a very fine searse then take 2 ounces of gum dragon steeped in rose water put to the powder and beat it in a morter till it be paste then make it up into beads in wht fashion you will to annoynt them take a quarter of an ounce off amber and halff a quarter of an ounce of [Ciyet?] wth one spoonfull of damask rosewater grind it in a warm morter keep it always beatinge because the amber will grow hard so annoynt them and lett them dry the geranim and violets must be beaten together and made upp in cakes to dry in a shadie place and afterwards beaten to powder with ye rest.
