[illegible (name?) ] To make the Green Oyl (in May or June Take Red Sage, Rosemary Lavender broad leaved Balm Camomial, Valerian, of Each fowr Ounces, Wormwood tow Ounces, gather them in a hot Sunny Day then wipe them with a cloth (but not wash them) then chop them Very Small and put them into a large Mouth-d Glass Bottle (or Sweet meat Jar is better) and put to them one Pint of the best oyl and tie it close down with leather then let it Stand in the sun three weeks, Stiring it once in three or four day's then put it into a Skillit & boil it a little & Strain out all the Herbs as hard as you can wring them, then add to them Oil 1/2 pint more and the same quantity of Herbs, fresh gatherd & choped as before, let it Stand in the Sun again three or four days then Set them on the fire (wich must be verry gentle) then let it boil very softly till it is green, then Strain out the Herbs and let the Oil Stand in a Pewter dish, or Bason one whole night then put your bason on a Chaving dish of Coals, and let the oil boil, & if any scum a rise's take it off clean, then take it off the fire & let it stand till it is cold then put it in to bottles for use; well Cork'd; if there is any water in the bottom of the dish leave it N.B This Oil is good for Either inward or Outward brueses one table Spoonfull to be taken at going to bed drink ing some small white wine whey after it; or any other deluting Liquor Warm; & when used outwardly it must be rub[illegible] on the part affected with the Hand & then put on a peice of flannel some of the oil should be put in to a cup & set in little warm water till it is just warm before it is Rub'd on.
