Monday May 12th, 1879. I did a large washing this morning. Lee and I went to town in the afternoon for groceries. I got some stuff for a new dressing gown for Charlie & finished up mother's new dress and did some other sewing. Tuesday May 13th 1879 I got up early this morning to cut carpet rags. I did the ironing before noon. I just got ready to cut out some work when Mrs. Burr and Winnie came they stayed till seven o'clock. I sewed carpet rags all the afternoon and evening. Wednesday May 14th, 1879 I did some baking and helped with work all the forenoon. It began raining before noon. Charlie came home about two oclock we were hardly expecting him thought he had written he might come. I began to work on his dressing gown as soon as he came I got it nearly done tonight. John was over but it was so rainy that none of us went to the church social had a letter from Miss Lewis.
