Wednesday May 21st 1879.
The first day of the tournament. Kate and Hatt were gone to town all the forenoon. I did some baking and helped get the dinner. We sewed some in the afternoon and after supper we went over to hear the music and took May with us. The young folk went to the concert. I had terrible head ache all day.
Thursday May 22nd 1879
I went over town early to have a tooth fixed. The folks came over in a little while and we rode around town all the forenoon, and had a splended time. We girls walked over in the afternoon. Kate and I went into the Opera house to hear the music. We young folks all went over in the buggy after supper again.
Friday May 28th 1879
I put in all the forenoon getting my things ready to go with Rob to Toledo. We started at one o'clock and got to Marengo at seven. I stayed all night at Millers and Rob at the hotel. Art Robinson met up with us. It was terribly dusty.
