Saturday May 24th 1879. It was raining this morning and Rob was busy with his business. I had a pleasant visit with Alice we started at one oclock and such a long ride it was. The roads were very slippery which made it hard on the horses. It was ten oclock before we got to Jennie's they were not expecting us and were all in bed. They made us very welcome though and it did us good to get a place to rest. I was so very tired. We were annoyed by some drunken fellows between Iowa City and Toledo, and it was coming up a bad storm. Sunday May 25th, 1879 It was raining very hard this morning but stopped by noon. After dinner Henry and Jennie Rob and myself with a young gentleman who is stopping here went out to see Jennie's folks. We had a tip top good time. Aunt Lizzie got a splendid supper for us and Mr. [Carney?] who drove proved to be the life of the party. We got home just at dark and spent most of the evening looking over our big book we had with us. Went to bed about ten oclock.
