Wednesday August 13th 1879 Mother went to the valley to spend the day. We girls did the work up early and got ready for company. Lizzie Lidley and sister Ella and Ella McCallister and Winnie were here visiting today. Thursday August 14th 1879 I worked this morning and we got some corn ready to put up. I ironed this afternoon and put the corn up working till five oclock. Mother went over town in the phaeton. I was very tired and went to bed early. Friday August 15th 1879 Mother and Hatt went to Aunt Marys to spend they day. I was trying to sew a little. I had company come for dinner. Mrs Smith and Mrs Leas and Mrs Middleton and [Mrs Prinney?] called in the afternoon. Weather cool. Saturday August 16th 1879 Rob and I took an early start to drive to Muscatine. We got across the Cedar river before we ate our lunch. We got to Lous about five oclock. Niles and Ellridge were at her house in the evening. her mother was away.
