Friday September 5th 1879 Rob hitched one of Dickeys horses to the phaeton this morning and him and I took Bird over town and we did some running around and came back without her. I began to help get dinner as soon as I got home. Aunt Ella came to spend the day. After I got the work done after dinner I cut out an apron for May and wished on it awhile. It rained just before night and we thought it would apoil our party but nearly all came and we had just a real nice time. I found Harry bird dead this morning. Saturday September 6th 1879 I got up early and swept before breakfast. I did some washing in the forenoon and cleaned all of the front porch. Mother and Bird walked over town this morning and came back just at noon. I sewed in the afternoon and with Birds help finished Mays apron. When the fire was made to get supper I ironed the things I washed this morning. It has been a splendid day and we are all anxiously awaiting tomorrow that we may go to the palisades.
