Sunday October 28th 1879 I ironed this forenoon and helped with the work generally most of the day. We got word that Mrs Smith and Clara would be here tonight. I went over town just before supper and when I was coming home I met Henry Mygatt and he said Uncle had died at three oclock and was to be buried tomorrow at two. Mrs S-- and Clara came and stayed all night. Wednesday October 29th 1879 The ladies started on to Washington about nine oclock this morning and we went to getting dinner. As soon as they ate their dinner, Father, Mother, Rob & Hatt started to the funeral. I done up the work and did some some mending in the afternoon. Just as the boys were through supper Hatt came back with John Whitstone the rest of the folks stayed up there to supper. I did some knitting in the evening.
