Friday November 7th 1879 I helped do up the work this morning and cut out some sewing and worked at it awhile. In the afternoon Rob took Mrs Smith, Clara and I to ride. I stopped to do a little shopping. We got home at five oclock. Win was here in the evening we all went to society and from there down to Wins awhile. Weather delightful. Saturday November 8th 1879 We did not have so very much house work to do this morning and I got to sew some. It was a rainy afternoon. I worked at some carpet rags all the evening. When Father came from town just before supper he told us that Uncle Jim had received word that [Lona] McCallister was dead and Ira very sick. Sunday November 9th 1879 I went to church this morning and stayed over at Wins till after dinner and she came home with me. I wrote to Charlie in the afternoon and in the evening wrote a long letter to Esther Thurber. Weather pleasant after the rain.
