Tuesday December 30th 1879 Mother and I got the breakfast this morning and set the table in the sitting room. As soon as those who had stayed all night had gone home, Mother went down to Uncle Jims and took May with her. I washed and Hatt cleaned up the house. We put the carpet down in the dining room first thing after breakfast. Corrie was busy with her lace work. We did not have dinner till nearly four oclock. We all went to bed early tonight. Wednesday December 31st 1879 A soon as we got the work done this morning Father took we girls over to Lucas to spend the day. He came after us about four oclock. We young folks went down to Ella Wilery to spend the evening and had a pleasant time. I hardly know what to say for the last day of the year. It has been a pleasant and profitable one and I hope no change may come to our family during the next year
