Monday June 17th 1889 I had Con help do the washing this morning and got it out in good time. Mother went to town for things for dinner. Joe and I went to town in the afternoon and with Will took supper at Hatties and staid part of the evening. We hurried home and got caught in the rain just at the foot of the hill. Mr Brown came tonight. [the following text is written vertically in the right margin of the above entry] I put up some strawberries. Tuesday June 18th 1889 I helped iron this morning and soon after dinner Will and I went up to Dennis for strawberries. I worked till nearly nine oclock to get them put up. Mother to town late in the afternoon to visit with John Helsrich & wife at Hatts. Wednesday June 19th 1889 Will, Joe and I took an early start to the valley. We took dinner at Aunt Ems and had good visit there. We went down the road about four oclock and called on some of Aunt Lidas family and took supper with her. It was nine oclock when we got home. I was very tired indeed. Thursday June 20th 1889 Brown & Stiles went on the early east bound train this evening and Willie & Savage went west at eight oclock. It began to rain by the time they got to the depot and it rained nearly all day. We could not go down to Aunt Ellens which was a great disappointment. Friday June 21st 1889 We were working all day getting ready for our quilting party tomorrow. Mother & Joe was over town in the forenoon & put in the quilt just before supper time. We were all tired and went to bed early. I put up a bushel of cherries. Saturday June 22nd 1889 We got around with our work in good shape this morning. The folks all came to the quilting but Aunt Lida and Aunt Mary. We had a nice visit and they got my quilt all done. Thay all said our dinner was very nice indeed. After they had gone we got a little supper and Joe packed her trunk and Will took it over to the depot. I would liked it to felt stronger and more like work today.
