Tuesday August 20th 1889 Will let the contract for digging the well this morning and then he went on the excursion to Waterloo It was so hot and dusty that I thought best not to go I took Edith and went to town in the forenoon to get some things for myself. Aunt Melinda Adams spent the day here. I ripped up my green dress and fixed chair cushion Will came home about eight 'oclock well pleased with his trip. Wednesday August 21st 1889 Mother went down to Aunt Libs with Mrs Van Fleet. I cut out some muslin sewing and done some mending It took me some time to do the work as the men are digging the well. Friday August 23rd 1889 I helped sew all the forenoon and soon after dinner Will and I went to town and from there out to the Masonic picnic at the fair ground. I had to stop at the office on the way in to see Ott. I was gone longer than I should have been. The girls were over all afternoon. Saturday August 24th 1889 I helped sew all I could today. We did not make such very good progress but I can get through alone now. Susie Tallent was here in the afternoon and stayed till after supper. It was a hot day. The men are working on the well yet
