Sunday August 24th 1890 It was a gloomy rainy morning. I was busy about the work most of the forenoon. Lee was home and him and Mother & I were talking most of the afternoon. Will was asleep. After supper I helped Will pack up what things he needed and he started to Delavan on the night train. Monday August 25th 1890 I picked cucumbers and tomatoes and gave my room a good cleaning up in the morning. I sewed all the afternoon while Mother was gone to town. Lee was home to supper but is going back to Burlington tonight. The weather has cleared up fine. Tuesday August 26th 1890 We put in a comfort quilt this morning. We got it done and another one started before supper time. There was no one here all day. Wednesday August 27th 1890 Mother and I finished the second quilt and got in the third just before noon. Mother went to the fair in the afternoon and I worked on the quilt. I had a letter from Mary and Will. I wrote to Will. Mauds colt died this afternoon. Thursday August 28th 1890 Mother and I took an early start to the valley this morning. We found Grand Mother a little more comfortable We got back to town by eleven oclock. There was an excursion from Waterloo today. We came on home and got dinner and finished the last quilt. Friday August 29th 1890 Mother and I went out to Songsters this morning to see about plums. We then went north of town to find the little girl is still willing to come here to work. We were at Fannys and Hatts both. I sewed all afternoon. [the following text is written vertically in the right margin of the above entry] I wrote to Will. Saturday August 30th 1890 We washed and ironed both and cleaned the little room. The girls were over all the afternoon. I had a letter from Will. he will not be home till the first of the week.
