Saturday September 13th 1890 I worked very hard all forenoon to get the baking and work done. Hatt and the children were here a little while. Will and I took an early start to the valley after dinner. Lee is at home and went too. Grand Mother is very bad. Mother did not come home with Lee. We got our supper over in good time and Will took me over to Hatts to spend the evening. Sunday September 14th 1890 I read some after getting my morning work done. Will was over town and out to the pasture. Mary and the girls came over soon after dinner. About three oclock Hattie came and said she and John has been to the valley and Grand Mother had died at half past twleve. How we will miss her for she has been spared to us so long. Mother came home just as we was getting through supper. She, Will, and I talked all the evening about what had just transpired. Monday September 15th 1890 It was a pleasant day and we washed and ironed both. Will took me over town late in the afternoon to get some things and we went out to Otts to see Ida who came today. Tuesday September 16th 1890 It looked like rain but cleared of nicely. We got started in good time for Grand Mothers funeral which was at ten oclock. Will, Mother, Lee and I went together. Charlie came last night and they went with Otts folks. There was a large funeral and the services were very appropriate. It is hard to realize we will never see Grand Mother any more. We got home and had some dinner ready by three oclock. Will and I went to town after that and out to Otts to see how long Ida would stay. Uncle George and Aunt Lydia came over here from the cemetery. Wednesday September 17th 1890 As soon as we got the work done up Mother and Aunty went to town to stay till after dinner. Will took me over in the afternoon and we went to the depot to see Uncle George, Aunt Lydia and Charles start home. Ida and Nellie we brought home with us Lee went back to Burlington tonight.
