Sunday August 2nd 1891 It was rainy forenoon. I was busy about the house all forenoon. Late in the afternoon Will and I drove over to Marys awhile. We were working around with the chickens in the evening. The folks were over in the afternoon a little. Monday August 3rd 1891 We washed this morning and took up the dining room carpet. Mother and I drove Nell to town in the afternoon and got a new carpet for the dining room and some other things. We were down at Hatties awhile. Mother did not come till after supper. Tuesday August 4th 1891 I ironed this morning and we got the carpet out of Mr Ables rooms before noon. He brought company at noon. Dr Nash of New Jersey. We got the carpet back and Ables room all cleaned up by supper time. The races began today the men folks went. Wednesday August 5th 1891 We worked all day at house cleaning took up the carpets in both north rooms up stairs and got them down again. they needed lots of mending. Mother is working on the new carpet. Henry Powery called this morning. Dr Nash went east at night. Thursday August 6th 1891 We got an early start at the work took up the carpets in the little room up stairs the south east room Agnes room and the upper hall. I put done carpet in the town rooms up stairs and Agnes room. The weather is growing very warm. Lee came home today. We sat on the porch in the evening to watch fire works in town. There was political speaking over there. Friday August 7th 1891 The boys took out the back parlor and hall and I the stairs carpet this morning. Will and I went to town for some things I wanted.
