in the upper hall and got the dinner. We done a washing in the afternoon and I put down the stairs and lower hall carpet. Will went to the races. weather very warm. We drove to town in the Surry after supper and Father and Mother went with us. Saturday August 8th 1891 It was a fearful hot day. I ironed a little and then Agnes and I went up stairs to put things in place while Mother finished. Will delivered 8 hogs before nine oclock when he helped me nail down the parlor carpets. I got the carpet done in the dining room before noon and finished the sitting room and cleaned the summer kitchen in the afternoon. It was a fearful big days work. Will and I went to town in the evening. Sunday August 9th 1891 It was an intensely hot day. The folks were all over from town and we had our first fried chicken for dinner. Leonard did not come back and Will had all his work to do. Charlie & family stayed all night. Monday August 10th 1891 We done a large washing this morning and I done some sewing in the afternoon. Leonard did not come back to work and Will was looking for another. Tuesday August 11th 1891 We got the ironing and a lot of baking done before noon. Charlie Ida Nellie went to town soon after dinner. Charlie went away at four clock and Ida & Nellie stayed all night in town. I done some mending and other sewing in the afternoon. Wednesday August 12th 1891 I went to town with Will early this morning to get my hats fixed and do some other things. We brought Nellie home with us and was out to Marys too. Ida came over before noon. I was sewing in the afternoon. weather quite warm again. Will has hired John Osborne for a month as Leonard has gone for good.
