Wednesday August 19th 1891 The girls came over to spend the forenoon. I went to town for a few moments. Fanny stayed all day and Ott came for dinner. Hatt came back in the afternoon and Orvil Spencer was here with an uncle for a call. Will helped me pack up after supper. Thursday August 20th 1891 We got up and Mother had our breaksfast so we started to the depot about five oclock. Were in time to get on the 1st excursion train for Davenport just before a heavy rain set in. It had stopped by the time we got to Davenport. We found John Helmich and went up to his house. Will came down with John in the afternoon and Mrs Helmich and I were done later, and all went back together. We spent the evening at home very pleasantly. Friday August 21st 1891 I spent the forenoon with Mrs Helmich. John got a carriage and took us for a drive. We visited the Orphans home. Rock Island and the island. It was after six when we got home. We went to bed early. Saturday August 22nd 1891 I was down town with Mrs Helmich in the forenoon and soon after dinner Will and I took the car for the ferry to cross the river. We left Rock Island at 2.20 and arrived at Peoria at six. had time for supper at Peoria and went on to Delavan by eight oclock. There were a number of the friends to meet us. Lizzie had her Surry there and took us down home. Found the folks well and had a pleasant visit before bed time. weather cooler. Sunday August 23rd 1891 We went to church this morning where we met many old friends. In the afternoon we went over to Venes and stayed till bed time. Ira was there and we had a great deal to talk about. We got home just as Lizzie and the children came from church
