there will be more than two or three but what will pass. There was a man come to us the other day and in behalf of the female bible society of Indianapolis he presented each man of the company with a testament. and as hard as some of the boys appear they all appeared to be thankful for the present, and some of them appeared considerably affected. I will not give you any instructions in regard to any thing as I will be at home some time next week and I can tell it you George Immel is cook for the officers mess and he makes a very passable cook and is hard to beat on bean soup. There was a grand display in the State hose yard yesterday. Col Wallace had his Zouave Regiment out in full Uniform and was presented with a banner which was received by them and then evry man kneeled and swore to be true to his country and his flag, The regiment Starts to Cairo tonight. There is two little girls belongs to the regiment and are always at the head of it and are call the daughters of the Regiment I must stop for want of paper. Your affectionate husband A. F. Davis
