Beaver is here trying to get Luther home again but cant succed as he is sworn in. he first tried the Cap, then the Colonel and they could not release him and then he went to Colonel Wood and all the satisfaction he gave him was a good cursing and told him his boy had as good a right to fight for his country as any body els and Beaver then come back to camp and his face was 3 times as long as usual and he is sitting on a Stump near me as I write and I never saw a more perfect picture of pernisious Sorrow than he now represents but Luther says he is not going so I think the old fellow will have his trouble for his pains I must stop for the Bugle has sounded for duty and we must not loiter.
