Camp Reynolds June 29 1861 Mrs. Sarah Davis Dear wife I received your Sweet letter last night and Oh the joy it gave me to hear that my dear wife and children ware well. I went to the Depot Thursday but did not find you which made me uneasy for fear you was sick and I went to the Colonel and tried to get a furlough but it was no go. It made the tears come last night when I read Nannys enquiry why I did not tell her and Rilly that I was not comeing back again Tell them I will meet them at the Depot on Monday and you and them must Stay all night with me before you go home. I will be at the Depo at 10-30 train as I suppose that is when you will come. It is a good thing you did not Start home that day as you would have had to went home from Centreville in the rain. I have not heard from Newton yet but he may be here today and if he does I will send him on immediately. Thom Burgess is here and is going to Stay with us as Company Clerk which takes a great deal of the labor off of me and I am verry thankful for it for it was more than I could do with Justice to myself The Captains are ordered to make out their pay Rolls which make it more than
