Camp of 15th Reg. Ind. Vol. Cheat Mountain Pass Randolph Co Va, July 19th 1861 Mrs Sarah Davis Dear Wife With pleasure I again sit down to address you a few lines hoping they will find you and yours as they leave me, that is in good health and Spirits, that is if a person can be in good spirits when they are widely seperated from their dear ones far away. I have not heard from you or any one about Liberty since the 4th of July and you may be sure the time begins to seem long, as it is the longest time I have ever passed without Seeing my dear Sally & children. I have written two letters one to you and one to Newton Since I have been in Virginia and I begin to look verry strongly for an answer. We have went into camp at this place but do not know for how long, maybe for
