all the fall. We are kept continualy on the watch as though we ware expecting an attact as we are in the midst of the enemys country and dont know who to trust. Last sunday night I, was sent out with a squad of men as advance or picket guards and we climbed a mountain 1 mile high where it was so steep that we had to pull ourselves up by the bushes and I, beleive it was as hard 2 hours work as I ever done. It was called Sheppards peak and there was 5 of us and 2 Slept at a time and the rest watched and I believe it was the tallest sleeping I ever done. Yesterday our whole Company ware sent out as advance guards to stay for 24 hours. and then be releved by another company. We went about 4 miles from camp and 1/2 Slept while the others ware sent out as guards My Squad of 4 men and myself ware the advance of all the rest and I must admit that it was not much fun to lay in the bushes by the side of the road waiting to get to shoot somebody before they should get to shoot you but the night passed without any misshap and this morning I came to camp and sent out food for the company to do them until night when they will all come back again.
