Could you find nothink better to cry about than because Newtons letter was not addressed to you If you cannot you must be getting scarce of the raw material for crying. I have been looking for a letter from Ferman for some time but it does not appear to come; You Speak of hard times with you. I suppose a great many of the women here may cry hard times in earnest as it is impossible for them to get Groceries of any kind and about all they appear to have to eat is Milk Butter and corn bread and a great many famalies who are considered rich and have their farms and niggers are without tea or Coffee and the Soldiers trade a good eal of Coffee to them for Corn Bread Milk Butter &c and you would be surprised to see the amount of such things they can get for 1 Pint of green Coffee, and they will even pull up their young potatoes and sell for Coffee when money would be no temptation, it is anything for to get coffee.
