nearly all voted the Secession ticket and a great many of them are gone and it is not uncommon to see a house shut up and deserted and great many have gone and left their famalies. and Some have gone and taken their famalies and left things in care of their Niggers. but ask where they have gone and sometimes they say they have gone to the mountains sometimes one answer and sometimes another but I suppose some of them at least are in the Southern army. We are now encamped on the farm of an Old Secesher and have established ourselve in his best Corn field which make the old fellow rathy but he has no way of helping it. I was at a house yesterday where there was 4 women 6 little girls 4 little boys one baby and 5 dogs but no man to be seen. I do not know who to compare the family to unless it is Old Whits. There is a verry good school house here at our camp, the only
