napping or unprepared as we Sleep in reach of our guns and have evrything ready so that if we are awakened in the night we can be ready for battle in 2 minutes. I see by the reports that the Federal repulse at Buls Run has awakened anew the war excitement in the northeren States so that I think all who are anctious to show their Bravery will now have a chance. Now Sally as regards to comeing home I do not know any more about it than I did a month ago as it would not do for me to mention the matter so long before hand as that would be a sure way of being refused - and if I get to come at all perhapse all the notice you would have of it would be to see me come into the house As regards the 3 months arrangement which I wrote about in my last I think it will not do to hope on as I see by a stray Cin Commercial that I got a hold of yesterday that Congress. has sanctioned evry thing that Old Abe has done and more too. So I have come to the conclusion that we will see it through (those of us who live to see the end) before we are discharged.
