Well Sally it moring Aug 29th and still raining and has not ceased since yesterday moring and does not have the appearance of Stopping today. The cow will not be fresh before November as near as I can recollect. I have just returned from my morning visit to the Hospital which is a hard place for a man to get well in. Immagine a room 25 by 30 feet in size occupied by 25 sick persons of various diseases and you can form some Idea of the place, a man never goes there if he can help it sure. We are keeping W. D. Serring at our quarters and he is getting well slowly. John Darnell is in Hospital and is also getting well. I met Doughty this morning and told him the child was born and its name was Frank and I think it bored him as bad as it did Doc when he went to cure the cholic. Dave Brandenburg is at this camp in the 3rd Ohio Regiment and I see him almost evry day but have not saw him yet to let him know that he is daddy. The papers you and Newton sends do not appear to ever get through as I never have got but 3 or 4 in all
